Barbara
2021 was a great year for Barb. She moved to West Auckland to the beautiful suburb of Waiatarua. She also became a Nana to two beautiful grandchildren and started working at Swanson Medical.
When she's not at work or playing with the grandkids, she's fixing up her original mid century home or exploring the neighbourhood. She is also actively involved in the Mercedes-Benz Car Club and on the organising committee for the Ellerslie Classic Car Show.

Mel (Practice Assistant)
Mel is our reception lead and practice assistant and has had the pleasure of living locally and working at SMC since 2015. Originally from Christchurch but has lived in various parts of Auckland over the years before finally settling here at home in Swanson.
Mel started working as a medical receptionist at 16 years old, working for a few years in a radiology practice before finding the joy of working in a General Practice environment. She enjoys being part of the Swanson Medical team, with colleagues all working hard for our small (but quickly growing!) community, and particularly enjoys connecting with patients to bring a friendly, familiar face to your visit here. Our reception team work hard to get to know you and your whanau on a personal level, carrying on the torch from the beautiful staff who have come before us. We are determined to make sure to retain the heart of our village medical centre throughout the continued growth of our special community.
Mel is of English, Scottish and Samoan heritage, and in her spare time (haha) Mel has been on a te reo Maori and tikanga Maori journey to support her 3 delightful daughters . They are all often found enjoying whanau time at local beaches, at the netball courts or kapahaka events.
